With twenty five years in Local Government in Metropolitan and Regional settings in both Victoria and New South Wales, Bernard has worked at the highest level which has provided an enormous range and depth of experience involving Public Policy, Strategic Planning, Organisational Development, Major Projects and Economic Development. With Management and Engineering qualifications and senior management experience, Bernard is in a unique position of being able to bring to the table a pragmatic and practical viewpoint underpinned by extensive experience.

Bernard played a key role in significant Local Government reform in Victoria at a major regional council which was widely recognised as a Council amalgamation success story. Most recently his leadership at Port Macquarie Hastings Council has been reflected in its commitment to key regional infrastructure, highly successful advocacy in areas including education and health, and recognition of the role of Local Government in community well being.
